Things I meant to do this afternoon (aside from entertaining the kids):

- grade a huge stack of tests
- prepare for an eight-hour class I have to give on Friday which still needs a lot of research
- sign up for acd_holmesfest
- work on the transcript of "Black Peter" for the listenalong at tweed's.
- write a lenghty email to mrs. sweetpeach, who is once again awesome and betaing one of my stories.

Granted, I may have been a bit over-ambitious.
Things I actually did this afternoon:

- gardening.

Yes, I know it's February. But I've missed this so much.

Your "to-do-but-what-really-got-done" list looks suspiciously like mine. Except I was just about to post an angry rant over the amount of ice and snow my backyard is buried under :/

I would love to sign up for acd_holmesfest... I'm really in the mood for fic writing and I see a few posters mentioning steampunk AUs, which is making me drool... but I doubt its going to happen *sigh* Can I at least prod you into giving this round a go? Because your fic = brilliance. And I miss it.

Yes, it's a bit weird, I've been talking about that to mrs. sweetpeach as well. We haven't had a single snowflake this winter. Not one.

And yeah, sure, I'll sign up! And you're too kind, as usual. I know I've been writing too much about dwarves and too little about Holmes lately (I suppose it's easier to get new ideas in a fandom one hasn't frequented so long), but this is a good opportunity to recitfy that. You're too busy? I miss your fiction too, you know.

That's because all the snow has been redeposited here. One snowstorm right after another. Two inches of old snow/ice are now beneath the 7-8" that fell during the night. And it is COLD. Arctic temps. All winter. We will never thaw out O_O

Also - Hooray that you are signing up for holmesfest!!! I never tire of your fic, and its nice to see your name included among so many other talented authors! There should be some excellent ficcery this year :D I will most likely not be participating tho... Finishing up something I was working on over the summer, before I got so sick w/ my sinuses. So all my creative energies are going into that, unfortunately.

How is your transcript coming along? I'm enjoying it, but I'm DREADFULLY slow. I think I've finally got into the swing of things and am speeding up a bit now, though :)

This morning I suddenly discovered the technique for doing it more efficiently: clicking on the rewind button to go back to precisely the point I want to listen from, rather than using the slider and going back and forth all over the place.

I feel like an idiot now for not having thought of this before :) But, hey, suddenly everything's much faster!

Glad I'm not the only one! It's taking me ridiculoulsy long, but at least it's not too difficult to understand - mostly. The main characters have very clear voices.
