... which may or may not be exaggerated, but they've left me worried. Is everybody alright?

Checking in here from Northern VA. We are OK, but have had no power for 24 hours. Lots of flooding along the coast, but we're well inland. New England had it a lot worse than us.

So it's really as bad as that? I was hoping that things were being over-dramatized by the news. One can never tell from afar.

Stay safe, at any rate!

New York took a beating - parts of Manhattan are flooded, Wall Street was actually shut down, and I'm hearing the well over 1 million people without power won't be getting it back on until next Tuesday, the earliest... everything is too flooded in parts of lower Manhattan to even send crews out. The houses around the corner from me all lost power, but thankfully, very little damage to my own house/yard and we still have power (obviously, lol). I am, however, off work this week, because parts of Westchester got it as bad as NYC, and the transit system up there is flooded just as badly as the lower NYC ones :/

*hugs* So glad to hear you're ok! I hope that's also true for the people you're close to.

Dear God, but it sounds really bad. It'll sure take some time for things to return to normal. Not that NY isn't, sadly, somewhat experienced in dealing with a crisis... I know it's of no practical value, but we're thinking of you, and all the others, around here.

Our power came back on after about 36 hours. We have generators, because out here in the country, we need to make sure we have water for the horses, so we kept the internet, TV, coffeemaker (yes!) etc on. We actually came through with minimal damage, but my heart goes out to people in New York. They really have it rough.

Mine too. But the indirect effects seem to be quite severe as well. 36 hours without electricity is a long time...

*agrees on importance of coffee maker*
